Associate Superintendent for Instruction

Bio

Kimberly Chai Benaraw is the Associate Superintendent for Instruction for the LA Region. She was an Asian-American studies major at UC Irvine and holds 2 Masters degrees, in administration and teaching. After teaching middle school math and ELA  and serving as site ELL Coordinator in  Torrance Unified, she became a founding teacher at Aspire-Berkeley Maynard Academy (BMA), then moved down to Southern California to found Aspire-Titan Academy in Huntington Park. Under her tenure, Titan received both the California Distinguished School recognition and the Title 1 Achievement Award. In her current role, Kim enjoys supporting principals in discovering their inner transformative leaders.

When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons and golden doodle puppy.
